SalsaIceland's next beginners course, called Classic Cuban I, or CCI, is starting October 3rd, here you can see the program, and registration has begun here.
A SalsaIceland intermediate course (Classic Cuban II) is starting October 26th. Those of you who have taken a beginners course with us, or somewhere else, this is a course for you! We dance on Sundays at 14:00 and Mondays at 20:30, here is all the info, and registration has begun here.
Lady styling marathon, including flamenco and cha cha with Marina Prada, November 7th-9th! That´s right, this time we focus only on the ladies, and offer you a workshop in two different levels, with this world class teacher. Marina Prada has danced salsa since she was a child, she worked as a professional dancer at The Royal Ballet of Stockholm, and has in the last ten years taught salsa in one of Scandinavias biggest salsaschools, SalsaAkademien, which she founded. Marina is famous for her top quality teaching and excellent pedagogic skills, and her enourmous talent in bringing out the best in her students. This time, we will work on bringing out the flavour of our salsadancing, with some cha cha footwork and flamenco styling, as well! Don´t miss this fantastic opportunity to dance with one of the salsaworlds most popular teachers. The price is limited, according to these difficult times, to merely 8000 iskr. That same weekend, we offer a rare opportunity of a workshop for beginners! Those of you who want to do a crash course and check out what this salsa is all about, this is your chance. You don´t have to have a partner to sign up, although it is cheaper! We dance Friday November 7th, Saturday the 8th, and Sunday the 9th, at MR gym hall. Are you a SalsaIceland gentleman who wants to solidify his foundations? Or are you a SalsaIceland lady who is tired of waiting for partners on salsanights? Both are welcome to come and dance as males FREE in the beginners' course that meets on Sundays at 5pm in the Thorshamar Karate Club. Send us an email if you are interested.
Salsanights October 20th at Café Sólon, Bankastræti. As usual there is a free drop in class for beginners at 20:00 and after that, the floor is free until 23:30 for all of you crazy salseros (as) out there.
Latinclub.is is a new club for Latino culture enthusiasts in Iceland. Einar and Selma, the club's directors, have collaborated in the past with SalsaIceland to host balls at both Players and Rex. They have recently put up a crazy new homepage where one can see all that is happening with Latino culture in Reykjavík, as well as information on Latino music, the origins of salsa, and much, much more. Latinclub.is has also arranged with Rex to make Friday nights Latino Nights! This is an awesome initiative from these intensely fanatical salsa fans, and dearly welcomed by the salsa community of Iceland. They are now collecting music for their Latino Night playlists. If you would like to hear your favorite Latino music, they will gladly play it. Just send your requests to einar@ok.is .
